The Fourth Little Pig

Title: The Fourth Little Pig
Author: Teresa Celsi
Illustrator: Doug Cushman
Genre: Fantasy
Awards: N/A
Grade Level: PK - 2

Three little pigs were traumatized by a big bad wolf and had locked themselves inside Pig Three's brick house. Their sister, Pig Four, came by and tried convincing them to go outside since there were no more wolves. The three pigs were too afraid and refused to even look for themselves. Frustrated with their stubbornness, Pig Four blew their house down. They saw that there were no more wolves and went out to explore the world. This is a great continuation to the classic "The Three Little Pigs". I would use this in my elementary classroom during the traditional literature unit to share with students different versions of stories that share elements with stories they are already familiar with. Because it shares an important theme to not be trapped inside your fear and to go out into the world to try something new and has some rhyme and repeated text, it would be appropriate for younger elementary students.
